What happened to Christopher Wade?

 

Christopher L. Wade, 39, was according to Columbus police shot and killed by their officer Nathan Komisarek. Wade was a mental health patient at Saint Ann's. The shooting took place at the hospital in 2017, outside of the Emergency Room. They say Wade pulled what turned out to be a bb gun from his bag once out of his medication. Emergency calls reveal Wade's neighbors on Garden Terrace Road called dispatchers Thursday saying Wade was disoriented and "seeing God." According to investigators, Wade did not comply to numerous orders by police to get down on the ground.

One of Wade’s neighbors called 911, trying to get him help. “My neighbor he… I think he’s bi-polar I’m not sure,” said the 911 caller “There’s a nurse that comes and gives him medicine twice a day and I don’t know if he told her not to come or maybe he didn’t take it, but he’s having side-effects from not having it and he’s falling and he’s so confused.” Dispatchers with EMS then asked police to join them on the run as they noted it could be a "suicide attempt." Police say 14-year officer Nathan Komisarek fired and killed Wade when he saw Wade's BB gun and ordered him to the ground.  

Columbus Police Department's Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.

There is almost no information on this case in general, and we were unable to find any updates on Christopher Wade’s case.
